Algerian Delegation at HUSUM WIND 2025
Towards a smooth energy transitions with Algeria's significant wind power potential

From 16 to 19 September 2025, the Algerian-German Energy Partnership organized a study tour to Husum, Germany, on the occasion of the 19th edition of HUSUM WIND, one of the leading international trade fairs dedicated to onshore and offshore wind energy.
The Algerian delegation was represented by key public stakeholders, reflecting the country’s strong institutional commitment to the energy transition. Among the participants were representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies (MEMER), energy sector leaders SONATRACH and SONELGAZ, alongside the Electricity and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG). Their presence underscored the strategic importance Algeria attaches to strengthening its expertise in renewable energy and advancing its cooperation with Germany in this field.
Throughout the four-day program, the delegation immersed itself in the latest technological developments in the wind energy sector. Guided tours of exhibition stands, presentations by industry leaders, and direct exchanges with technology providers offered the Algerian participants valuable insights into innovations in turbine design, digital solutions, and offshore infrastructure. In parallel, the study tour also served as a privileged platform for networking with international actors, fostering dialogue on current trends, future challenges, and potential partnerships in the renewable energy landscape.
A central highlight of the visit was the high-level conference held on 17 September, organized under the leadership of the Algerian delegation. This event brought together Algerian and German government representatives, professional associations, and energy experts. Discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation, highlighting Algeria’s significant wind energy potential, and examining the role it could play in enabling the production of green hydrogen, a key pillar of the global energy transition.
On 19 September, the study tour concluded in Hamburg, where the Algerian delegation held exchanges with the Hydrogen Economy Coordination Unit of the region. This session provided an opportunity to present Algeria’s National Green Hydrogen Strategy, adopted in 2023, and to discuss its strategic orientations. The Algerian representatives emphasized the country’s long-term vision, which seeks to integrate renewable energy development with green hydrogen production, thereby positioning Algeria as a future energy partner in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
This study tour to Husum and Hamburg thus combined technical learning, institutional dialogue, and international cooperation. Its objectives were threefold: to reinforce knowledge on wind energy technologies, to identify concrete opportunities in the onshore and offshore wind markets, and to consolidate institutional and commercial relations between Algeria and Germany, therefore, illustrating the shared ambition of both countries to promote renewable energy, advance innovation, and build sustainable cooperation pathways in support of a global energy transition in the frame of the Algerian-German Energy Partnership.
